Type of Submissions

  • The International Journal for Refugee, Minority and Gender Studies (IJRMGS) publishes original scholarly articles both primary and secondary based research funded and supported by ICRMS and independent research. All contributions must be in English.
  • Authors may not submit material under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors will normally be notified of the editors’ initial decision within three to six months.

Articles

Articles published in the (IJRMGS) aim to develop theoretical understandings of intersectional issues related to refugees, forced migration and displacement, Minorities and gender issues. This journal aims to deepen knowledge of concepts, policies, practice, and experiences of groups or communities such as displaced (internally, externally), religious, ethnic, political and legal minorities and diverse genders.

Submissions should make a clear analytical contribution to the field of refugee, displacement and forced migration, minorities and gender studies e.g. through theoretical, historical, comparative and/or methodological advances. IJRMGS is a multi-disciplinary journal that accepts articles from a wide range of disciplines, primarily in the social sciences. Articles should contribute to the broad field of refugee, displacement and forced migration minorities and gender studies and be written in a language that is accessible to a broad scholarly audience. While different disciplines have their own norms in terms of the presentation of research results, in order to facilitate communication amongst authors and readers from different fields, all articles published in IJRMGS must include a clear introduction that explicitly states the central argument, contribution and structure of the piece as well as a conclusion that summarizes the main argument and implications. The maximum length of articles is 8000 words, including citations.

Co-Authorship

The research in the field of refugee, displacement and forced migration, minorities and gender studies is often undertaken collaboratively. In particular, fieldwork in displaced and affected communities often involves multi-national research teams, yet the intellectual contributions of local research team members are sometimes unrecognized or not fully acknowledged. Where pertinent, IJRMGS encourages recognition of research team members who have made significant intellectual contributions to the study (including but not limited to those involved in drafting the submission) through their inclusion as co-authors.

When submitting an article for review, the Corresponding Author should include a note in the cover letter clarifying the roles of each co-author.
